Swoop Crochet Pattern

One of the patterns being released this month is Swoop. For those of you who don’t know who he is, he’s the bat that flies down from the ceiling to hit you in the cave levels. Swoop isn’t your typical Super Mario character, but my son insisted that I do ALL of the characters! So this may very well turn out to be a life long project! 😀 Unfortunately, I forgot to take pictures at the various stages of the assembly process but thankfully it’s pretty straight forward. When I make the second one for a video tutorial, I will remember to take pictures and then update this post. The approximate measurements using DK yarn and 4mm hook are 7 inches height, 2.75 inches width and 6 inches length/depth. Materials

• DK yarn (purple, yellow, fushia pink, black)
• 3mm crochet hook
• Yarn needle
• Fire retardant Fibrefill
• Pink felt
• Black felt
• Felt glue
• Scissors
• Pins (optional)
• Stitch marker (optional)

Abbreviations

• MR# – magic ring with the specified number of single crochets
• SC – single crochet (double crochet English)
• HDC – half double crochet
• INC – single crochet increase
• #in1 – the specified number of SC in the same stitch (i.e. 3in1)
• DEC – invisible decrease
• BLO – back loop only
• FLO – row is front loop only
• *_______* X# – repeat sequence within the asterisks the specified number of times e.g. *SC, INC* x6)
• SS – slip stitch
• CH – chain stitches
• CH1T – chain 1 stitch then turn your work
• TURN – turn your work
• ST/STS – stitch/stitches
• FO – fasten off
