Happy February!
Another month has zoomed by. Fortunately, I was able to keep up with the pace and actually completed both Mrs Potatohead and Jafar before the end of the month – with 5 whole days to spare. It was such a good feeling not to feel rushed.
I was able to save time because this pattern is essentially the same as my Mr Potatohead pattern. Mrs Potatohead’s body and arms were made using the exact same pattern. As for the hat, ears, nose and shoes, I again used the same pattern but made some slight alterations. Once all the parts were crocheted and assembled it was easy to bring Mrs Potatohead to life using a few bits of felt and some pompoms.
I was planning on needle felting the eyes and lips so that I could add some depth and dimension to resemble the actual facial features. I feel like this will bring some additional realism to the overall finish. However, I decided to just continue doing my Mrs in the same way that I made the Mr. When I get around to remaking them for the video tutorial, I will most likely try the needle felting technique.
Lastly, as you can see, I did the legs in a different style. Previously, with my Mr I did the feet so that they were joined and crocheted continuously. I did it like that because it was depicted this way in the reference pictures that I used to make him. However, I much prefer the outcome as two separate feet and looking back at clips from the movie, Mr Potatohead also has two separate feet. I will update the pattern and make this change at some point in the near future.
Overall, if using DK yarn and a 2.5mm hook, the height of my Mrs Potatohead is 6 inches tall and 4.5 inches wide from ear to ear (9.5 inches with the arms extended).
If you haven’t already, check out my Mr Potatohead post which can be found here.

If you have already made Mr Potatohead then he will no longer be alone! They do look very happy to finally be reacquainted.
The next Toy Story pattern being released in March is Stinky Pete. As much as I love the good guys, I do love a bad guy too. Let’s be honest, the story wouldn’t be as enjoyable without a Villain – and this Toy Story series wouldn’t be complete without one too!
Until the next post, Happy crocheting!
