The first pattern release for this month is Petey Piranha from Super Mario Bros.
This character was fun to make and fairly straight forward because I used the same pattern and technique that I used for my Piranha Plant. The only difference that I made is that I created a head half and quarter then connected them. Previously, I had created two halves and overlapped them to create the head.
For the lips, I just used two shades of green yarn and alternated for each row. The tongue is made using the same technique from the Piranha Plant too but it is shorter.
The approximate measurements using DK yarn and 3mm hook are 7.5 inches height, 6 inches width (arm span) and 4 inches length/depth.
Materials
DK yarn in grass green, forest green, black, red, yellow and orange
3mm crochet hook
Yarn needle
Fire retardant Fibrefill
White felt
Light pink felt
2-3mm craft foam
Craft wire
Pliers
Scissors
Pins (optional)
Stitch marker (optional)
Abbreviations
MR# – magic ring with the specified number of single crochets
SC – single crochet (double crochet English)
INC – single crochet increase
DEC – invisible decrease
4IN1 – four single crochets in the same stitch
SSJ – slip stitch join
CH# – chain specified number of stitches
CH1T – chain 1 stitch then turn your work
*_______* X# – repeat sequence within the asterisks the specified number of times e.g. *SC, INC* x6)
CC – colour change
ST/STS – stitch/stitches
FO – fasten off
