Happy Friday!!

Thank you so much for your patience. at one point I really did not think that I would get Rex done at all. I won’t lie to you, it was a real struggle. I have been at war with time and opportunity this month.

In March there were a total of 22 days where I did not get to crochet at all. In the end, I had to sacrifice some of my sleep and crochet into the early hours of the morning to get him done. Fortunately, the babies have just started sleeping through the night, so I plan on using the next few days to catch up on my sleep! (touch wood! Because babies are notorious for their love of curveballs!).

So, more about the actual pattern. I initially started off this set by using 4ply yarn with a 2mm hook because more stitches allow for more detail. However, I have realised how much more stitches and therefore time that this would require. This prompted me to make a change and opt to make my Rex using DK yarn and a 2.5mm hook instead. So, the overall Rex is the size that I intended but with fewer stitches. The time saved by doing this was essential!

Fortunately, I do not feel that it has compromised the detail in any way. But I will need to adjust my Hamm pattern and make him slightly smaller and account for the use of DK yarn.

Rex’s legs are wired so that they are strong enough for him to stand but this is optional because it will also work without wires. I also wired his arms by pushing a piece of wire through the body.

To finish rex off I used white foam for the eyes and teeth (I used a  black sharpie to draw on the pupils).

The total height and length of Rex is 9.5 inches tall and 11.5 inches long.
