LEG (MAKE 2): Using orange yarn

ย  TAIL:ย Starting with black yarn

Assembly:ย It is quite difficult to describe in a written format how to attach the arms, legs, etc. but I have included pictures to serve as a guide. It is easier if you sew on the head details first, such as eyebrows, snout, mouth, nose and ears. This way you can hide where you tie off the black yarn and other ends at the back of the head where you connect the head and body. I use the whip stitch to assemble the parts but you can use whichever method is easier for you. I found it easier to pin the parts in place so I could sew them on symmetrically. Here are a few optional notes for you to use when assembling your Tigger:

You are now finished! Hopefully, the outcome is as you expected and the pattern was easy to follow. I wouldย LOVEย to see any completed projects! Happy Freebie Friday!

The freebie pattern this week is Winnie the Poohโ€™s Tigger. Tigger was the second pattern of this series that I came up with. As discussed in my previous post was based off a picture I saw on Deviantart by a crocheter with the username aphid777. This was my very first attempt at needle felting (in all honesty I didn’t even know what it was and had to do some research on it!). A few Youtube tutorials later and I felt comfortable enough to give it a try. If you look at my crochet projects you will see that I rarely do it entirely in crochet. I am a big advocate for mixed media and I just love the way that it adds dimension and character to your projects. It can also widen your possibilities. So overall needle felting got a very big thumbs up from me and I look forward to utilising it in other projects.

Materials used:

Abbreviations:

HEAD: Using orange yarn ^Stuff firmly as you go^ ^INSERT SAFETY EYES^ Cut out the eyepiece with beige felt as depicted in the picture of the head below (it should be approximately 2 stitches wider than where the eyes will be inserted on each side and 8 rows tall). Line it up on the head so that the 13th and 19th stitches are centred then glue into place. Using something sharp pierce the felt at the 13th and 19th stitch and insert the safety eyes.

  1. i’m confused on trying to do the mouth, can i get clearer instructions on how to do this, i don’t understand how i end up with 12 stitches when i have 4 i’m working with after going to the second stitch.

    • Good morning. Sorry for the confusion. It means that you have to work in both sides of the chain. I hope that makes sense. Happy crocheting X
