Freebie Friday: Boo Super Mario Crochet Pattern

Hello and welcome to another Freebie Friday Series!

Over the next 8 weeks, I will be releasing patterns from my Super Mario set. There will be 5 sets/phases and each phase will have 8 pattern releases. Phase 1 will run from 11th July – 6th September and will feature the following patterns:

• Goomba
• Boo
• Bob-omb
• King Bob-omb
• Pokey
• Wiggler
• Bullet Bill
• Chain Chomp

 

I have yet to decide which characters will be featured in phase 2 but it is expected to start sometime in November. I know that the wait seems long, but it gives me time to work on other projects in between and lessens my pressure to get projects done for a release every week – which with my current schedule just isn’t practical.

The first pattern being released is Boo. I have chosen this pattern to go first because it is the easiest one to do. I used white craft foam for the teeth for added dimension but this step is not necessary. The white felt can also be used for the teeth.

The approximate measurements using DK yarn and 3mm hook are 2.5 inches height, 3.75 inches width and 4 inches length/depth.

 

MATERIALS REQUIRED:

• White DK yarn
• Black DK yarn (for stitching detail)
• Fibrefill
• 3mm hook
• Yarn needle
• Scissors
• Felt glue
• Black felt
• Dark red felt
• Pink felt
• White felt
• 1mm white craft foam (optional, you can just use the white felt)

ASSEMBLY:

Use the pictures of the finished Boo to complete your amigurumi. Here are some additional notes that may help you.

• I attached the arms approximately midway down the body and 10 rows back from the centre point.
• The stitched eye detail spans approximately 12 stitches wide and 2 rows high. You can use the picture below as a guide.
• To get that grooved look on the tongue I placed a small amount of felt glue halfway down the centre of the tongue and pinched it until the glue held.
• I cut a small horizontal slit in the dark red mouthpiece and inserted the tongue and glued down at the back.

I am hoping to select the characters that I am doing for Mario phase 2 over the weekend and also start planning how I am going to make them. I am so excited!
