Having recently watched both the animated and live remake of this movie, I am really excited about making these characters come to life. So far, Jasmine and Aladdin have been the easiest couple to make in terms of clothing. The simplicity made it very easy and straightforward. As with my Ariel and Tiana dolls, Jasmine was made using my first-generation Avery doll base which has since been tweaked to include more defined arms. Also, when making this doll I decided to play around a little and instead of using a 2.5mm hook, I used a 2mm to see what size she would turn out to be. She stands at 8.5 inches tall. However, because I deviated from the standard sizing, I had to make the clothing template based on the original size doll and then I scaled it down to fit my smaller Jasmine. I also did the same for Aladdin. The template included is for the standard doll size using the Avery doll base with a 2.5mm hook. If you don’t have it already you can purchase the doll base through my website here or in my Etsy or Ravelry stores. A downside to making a smaller doll is that everything is more fiddly – especially when it comes to making the clothing. It was small enough already with the original size doll so take this into account when deciding on the size that you make your doll. Another thing that I did was use a black permanent marker to go over her eyeliner so that it was darker and bolder. In order to get that classic puffed-out look for the legs, I had to divide the trouser into 4 parts rather than my standard 2 parts. This created a seam down the front and back, but I think that it still works and looks good. For Princess Jasmine’s jewellery, I decided to try something different and opted to use some gold polymer clay (you know me and my love for mixed media!) I am happy with how the jewellery came out and finished of Jasmine perfectly. WHAT YOU WILL NEED: (Template size is based on the Avery doll made using 4ply yarn and a 2.5mm hook)
