The mini tier pattern for this month is Bo Peep.
I was unsure whether I would be happy with this pattern because Bo Peep has such a delicate face. As you may be aware of, my Toy Story series is crocheted using DK yarn and a 2.5mm hook. To achieve the level of detail and contouring required for Bo Peep I would need to increase my stitch count and make the doll a lot larger. As a result, I opted to just do the head as a simple oval shape and use stitch contouring to create the nose and facial crevices. The contouring is very subtle so I was not sure if the finished look would resemble Bo peep enough but due to the iconic nature of the character, I think I was able to get away with it, especially if I stuck to a high level of detail for the clothing and hair.
The hair was done as one continuous piece which made things a lot easier. The most complicated part of this whole project, surprisingly, was the top. It took a bit of tweaking, but I got there in the end.
Something that may be blatantly obvious is that the colour of Bo Peep’s skirt is not accurate. I didn’t have the off-white yarn that I needed but I refuse to buy more yarn so instead used the closest colour that I had which was a beige yarn. At first, I was very annoyed by this colour combo but once I put it all together it does not look so bad.
So much of this project was crocheted so it has left me itching for some mixed media. Even my other pattern this month (Sneezy dwarf) also did not have much mixed media. Therefore, I think that when I remake Bo Peep to record the video tutorial, I will also make a felt version for the clothes.
To finish I wanted to add a touch or realism to this project and so decided to use printed eyes rather than felt ones. The file for the eyes had been attached to this post.
The overall measurements for Bo Peep are 10 inches/25.5cm tall and the arm span is 9 inches/23sc.

- 2.5mm crochet hook
- Yarn needle
- Fire retardant Fibrefill
- Light pink felt
- Felt glue
- Scissors
- Red blush

- T-shirt transfer paper eyes
- Light pink mesh fabric
- Cream/off-white lace trim
- 3 fasteners (such as poppers, buttons or Velcro)
- Brown and a pink lip coloured embroidery yarn and needle
- Blue washi tape
- Thin elastic ribbon (optional)
- Pins
- Stitch marker
Abbreviations
A full list of the abbreviations that I use in my patterns:
- MR# – magic ring with the specified number of single crochets
- SC – single crochet (double crochet English)
- HDC – half double crochet (half treble English)
- DC – double crochet (treble English)
- INC – single crochet increase
- #in1 – the specified number of SC in the same stitch (i.e. 3in1)
- #DCin1 – the specified number of DC in the same stitch (i.e. 3DCin1)
- #HDCin1 – the specified number of HDC in the same stitch (i.e. 3HDCin1)
- hdcINC – half double crochet increase
- dcINC – double crochet increase
- DEC – invisible decrease (if it is a DEC in BLO I tend to use the 2TOG decrease method)
- 2TOG – two stitches together decrease (non-invisible) method
- *_______* X# – repeat sequence within the asterisks the specified number of times e.g. *SC, INC* x6)
- FLO – front loop only
- BLO – back loop only
- CH – chain stitches
- CC – colour change
- CH1T – chain a stitch then turn your work
- SS – slip stitch
- ST/STS – stitch/stitches
- OFFSET – a term I use when adding or taking away additional stitches in order to line up or get the right placement
- = # ROWS – repeat the stitch sequence for the row the specified number of times e.g. 32SC (32) = 5 ROWS
- FO – fasten off
