Happy November!

This monthโ€™s mini tier pattern is little Simba himself.

As both Mufasa and Sarabi were crocheted standing on all fours I decided to change things up a bit with Simba and crocheted him sitting down. Also, because I really liked the way Sarabi looked with an embroidered nose, I decided to do the same for Simba.

The pattern was not too complicated as it uses similar principles that I used to crochet Mufasa and Sarabi but on a slightly smaller scale. The main difficulty was maintaining the same level of detail and contouring with fewer stitches, which only became an issue when crocheting the head and facial features.

Due to the trouble with the head I opted to crochet the head and body separately so I could try various head size on to see which suited Simba best. I planned to do it as a continuous piece once I chose the right head shape and size but then it occurred to me it would be good to have options. Next month will be Nalaโ€™ crochet pattern and her body shape is like Simbaโ€™s with the only difference being the head shape and features. Therefore, I plan to keep the head separate so that between this pattern and Nalaโ€™s pattern you can interchange them and do Simba and Nala in either the sitting down or standing up pose.

So, next monthโ€™s Nala pattern will be crocheted in the standing on all fours pose.

Simbaโ€™s finished measurements are approximately 5 inches / 12.5 cm tall and 4 inches / 10 cm long (not including the tail).
