Happy September!

This month marks the start of my Lion King series, and we are kicking it off with Mufasa.

Having made a tiger, a dog and a horse before, I was familiar with the steps that I wanted to take to create this project because it is a very similar concept. However, as this is a mini tier pattern, the idea is that it's a little simpler and not as complex as my Midi tier patterns. Due to this I did end up having to start over at one point because the project would have ended up too big for the level of contouring that I was doing. Although I had to simplify the pattern, I'm still very pleased with the level of detail I was able to capture and the way that Mufasa came out.

I took my time attaching the front legs, so the joints are a lot more seamless, whereas I rushed the back legs a bit because I was so tired, and it looks more like individual pieces attached rather than a continuous seamless piece. Fortunately, I can always go in with some mustard yarn and re-stitch those seams so it's not a big deal.

For the eyes I opted for sublimation printed felt eyes and this was to primarily save time, but I also think it adds to the realism and stops this project from just looking like any old lion and transforms it into Mufasa.

With the mane, I wanted it to have a certain look, so I didn't use acrylic yarn and opted to use a wool blend instead, so the twist pattern is looser, and the texture is a bit silkier which I feel works perfectly for the mane. I am still on the fence as to whether I should brush out the mane, what do you think, should I brush it out or leave it as is?

Mufasa measures approximately 6.5 inches / 17 centimetres tall, 6.5 inches / 17 centimetres long (not including the tail) and 4 inches / 10 centimetres wide.

So, that's about it so on to the pattern itself.

IMPORTANT NOTE

Just a quick note to let you know that my crochet patterns are typically shared as posts rather than PDFs, unless specifically stated otherwise.

Also, please keep in mind that, just like my pattern posts for my Patreon subscribers, not all of these patterns have been formally tested. While I strive for accuracy, there may be minor typos or small errors. I work to correct any issues as soon as they are brought to my attention.

Doing it this way allows me to post two patterns a month because they are quicker to produce, are easily accessible and ready to view directly on my page. The posts can be printed if you wish. Unlike subscribers who lose access to posts if the subscription ends, posts that are purchased will have lifetime access.

If youโ€™re comfortable with this and excited to start creating, my crochet patterns are perfect for you!
