Hamm Crochet Pattern

Once again happy Tuesday!

Fortunately, this pattern was very straight forward. The hardest part about it was deciding on the size. Any of you that know my crochet style will know that I can get a bit obsessive when it comes to details. Though this pattern is simple the same applied here. Having already made the alien I had to decide if I was going to try and keep to an accurate scale or to keep it small and the same size as my alien. You cant see it in the pictures but I opted to stick roughly to scale and my Hamm turned out to be 7 inches long and 4.5 inches tall.

The plus side to making Hamm this size is that when it comes time to make the more detailed characters like Woody and Buzz, I will have more stitches to work with. This makes including all the iconic features that much easier! I am really looking forward to this set! (I know I say it every time).

Once fully assembled and the time came to take some pictures, I realised that Hamm likes to nose dive because he is head-heavy. This isn’t a major issue but if it would bother you, you could always just add something with a bit of weight to the body when stuffing. (Like with my Piranha Plant pattern that required weighing down. I used popcorn kernels).

Materials

• 4ply cotton yarn in nude (I used Scheepjes Catona:  255 Shell)
• 2mm crochet hook
• Yarn needle
• Fire retardant Fibrefill
• Black felt
• Pink felt
• Brown/tan felt
• Felt glue
• Scissors
• Pins (optional)
• Stitch marker (optional)

Abbreviations

• MR# – magic ring with the specified number of single crochets
• SC – single crochet (double crochet English)
• HDC – half double crochet (half treble English)
• INC – single crochet increase
• #in1 – the specified number of SC in the same stitch (i.e. 3in1)
• DEC – invisible decrease
• *_______* X# – repeat sequence within the asterisks the specified number of times e.g. *SC, INC* x6)
• FLO – front loop only
• BLO – back loop only
• CH – chain stitches
• CH1T – chain a stitch then turn your work
• SS – slip stitch
• ST/STS – stitch/stitches
• FO – fasten off
