As you may be aware of by now, this month kicks off the start of my The Little Mermaid amigurumi set. I am still a little bit undecided as to which characters to include but the general idea is for the set to contain:
  • Prince Eric and
  • Princess Ariel
  • Flounder
  • Sebastian
  • King Triton
  • Ursula
  • Max the dog
  • Scuttle
Those eight characters are on the current agenda but if it changes I will keep you updated. Now back to this Prince Eric how-to tutorial. I am still not 100% happy with the eyebrows – my embroidery skills need a lot of work! However, for my next set (Cinderella) I plan on needle felting the eyebrows on for all of the human characters and will see how that turns out. Another thing that you may notice is that Prince Eric has green eyes. I’m not sure which picture I used when I decided on that but since all the pictures show him to have blue eyes. Thankfully, I really like the green eyes and I think they match nicely with Ariel’s dress so decided to keep them. I have included both the green and blue version of Eric’s eyes in the PDF template. The only finishing touches missing from Prince Eric’s suit are his buttons. I haven’t been able to find anything that is suitable enough on my craft wall. I did consider just cutting small circles out of yellow felt but I wanted to mix up the media for added effect. I plan to order some beads or buttons that will finish off Eric’s suit nicely. Until then, in the picture below I have added yellow circles to show where to put the buttons. If you don’t have it already you can purchase the doll base through my website here or in my Etsy or Ravelry stores.
