Happy Freebie Friday!
We were having what they initially called a “mini heatwave” here in the UK. Thankfully it rained last night and today so it feel much cooler. Spring and Autumn are my favourite months because I am not frozen solid or slowly roasted! Yesterday the temperature reached 38 degrees Celcius and I was hot and sticky all day. To further my torment it felt like 50 degrees in my flat at one point because I was baking a cake. Despite every window being open there wasn’t a single breeze coming in – my curtains remained stationary!
I know that some people were loving the heat, but unfortunately, I was not one of them.
Nevertheless, you didn’t stop by to hear me talk about the heat. In my last post, I said that I intended to use the time that I have over the summer very wisely in order to get stuff done. I also said that lists would be written because it increases my productivity. So far, I am feeling extremely motivated because I have managed to get a fair bit done. It can be so frustrating when my ideas run faster than my ability to complete them. And I tend to start multiple things at a time, then I end up with a huge box of WIP’s (works in progress).
Thankfully the whip box is getting smaller and PDF’s are being written. By the end of the summer, my Etsy store shouldn’t be so barren and I will hopefully be producing new items for the store more regularly.
Now on to the feature presentation. Today’s Freebie Friday pattern is Goomba. This is another fairly straightforward pattern and is quick to make. You could easily whip up an army of these cuties in no time at all. Using 4ply yarn would make him perfect for keys or DK yarn as a bag charm. You could even triple some DK or aran yarn to make a plushie. How you decide to make him is entirely up to you.
The approximate measurements using DK yarn and 3mm hook are 3 inches height, 2.25 inches width and 2.25 inches length/depth.

Any chance you’ll post free Firefly Rey from The Princess and the Frog? I have a friend who loves him, and I’m down to give him a try! Also, your patterns are amazing!!! Thank you for sharing!!
Yes, there will definitely be a free Ray Firefly post. Probably in a month or so when the Mario series is complete x
I’m working on this right now and I have a blog over at nychobbies.blogspot.com . Can I mention you in my post when I finish Goomba? I would love to give you credit! 🙂
Thank you so much, yes that is not a problem. Cant wait to see the finished project. X
Hi i have a question about the super Mario goomba. When you start the decrease in the body , iam a little confused. Sc,*2sc,dec*×5. Does that mean 2sc in same stitch or 2sc, or 2sc dec
Hello, *2sc, DEC* x5 means that you do a SC in 2 stitches followed by a decrease. You have to repeat that sequence 5 times. I hope that makes sense. Happy crocheting!
Hi, can someone help me out here. I’m working on the goomba body and i am little bit confused…starting at the decrease part Sc,*2sc,dec*×5 is it telling me to 2sc in one stitch or 2sc or dec 2sc ?
Very easy pattern to follow. Made it in worsted and it’s about 5ish” tall. Definitely plan to remake him in keychain/backpack charm size.
Thank you for the feedback. I’m so happy that you enjoyed the pattern
Thank you for the pattern! I made one for my stepson for christmas.
You’re welcome! I hope he loved it
