Beast Crochet Pattern

There are four parts in total, you can watch part 1 HERE I have been against the clock on this Beast pattern and there were many times that I thought I wasn’t going to get in done in time. Though I aim to get my monthly patterns released by the 7th of each month, I like to have them ready to post for the first of the month. Either way, the Beast pattern is officially here! I found Beast very similar to my Louis Alligator pattern due to all the various parts that require sewing on. I do consider it to be slightly more complicated due to the arms, legs and jaw. It could get a bit fiddly and hard to manoeuvre at times. That being said, once the body is complete it is considerably more plain sailing from there. I am very aware that this pattern requires more than just a written pattern alone. I have been recording as I make the second Beast so there will be a video tutorial that can aid through the more complicated aspects of the pattern.  This video will take some time to edit but I will keep you updated as to its progress. In the meantime don’t hesitate to contact me and I will be happy to assist you in any way that I can. When it comes to attaching the various parts of the face I highly recommend using pins to pin everything in place so that you can see the positioning for everything before it becomes permanent. You may find that you have to shift everything up or down. The overall height of the Beast from the tip of the horn to the tip of the toe (with the leg straightened) is 17.5  inches (DK yarn version). The second Beast that I made I used aran yarn with a 3mm hook which is 19.5 inches tall. I was very happy to find out that the clothes for the DK version fit the aran version. It’s just a little bit snugger and you may want to add an inch to the sleeves. Beasts eyes can be found on the PDF template that is attached to the Beast’s clothing tutorial. The template is to scale. I print the eyes onto t-shirt transfer paper and iron them onto stiff white felt. Then it is just a case of cutting and sticking them onto your Beast. However, if you prefer, you can use your own method for the eyes. That’s the introduction out of the way so on to the pattern… Materials

• DK yarn (light brown, medium brown, dark brown and beige)
• 2.5mm crochet hook
• Yarn needle
• Fire retardant Fibrefill
• Beige felt
• White foam or felt
• Felt glue
• Scissors
• Craft wire
• Pliers
• Beasts eyes
• Pins (optional)
• Stitch marker (optional)

Abbreviations

• MR# – magic ring with the specified number of single crochets
• SC – single crochet (double crochet English)
• HDC – half double crochet
• INC – single crochet increase
• hdcINC – half double crochet increase
• #in1 – the specified number of SC in the same stitch (i.e. 3in1)
• DEC – invisible decrease
• BLO – back loop only
• FLO – row is front loop only
• *_______* X# – repeat sequence within the asterisks the specified number of times e.g. *SC, INC* x6)
• SS – slip stitch
• CH – chain stitches
• CH1T – chain 1 stitch then turn your work
• ST/STS – stitch/stitches
• FO – fasten off
